Elderbrook Drops Inspiring New Single “SHALLOW WATER”

Elderbrook, the GRAMMY-nominated multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer-songwriter, and DJ, is known for his ability to craft emotive music that delves into themes of identity and mental wellbeing.

On June 7th, Elderbrook (real name Alexander Kotz) released his latest single, “Shallow Water,” a powerful track set to be featured on his forthcoming studio album due later this year.

About “Shallow Water,” Elderbrook explains, “In ‘Shallow Water,’ the protagonist hits rock bottom, faced with no choice but to strive for improvement. The song revolves around the internal conflicts and self-bargains we make when attempting change, despite knowing how challenging and messy it can be. It’s a voice for that perpetual self-doubt.”

“Shallow Water” is built around Elderbrook’s touching vocals and uplifting organ melodies, creating a pulsating, life-affirming anthem. The release is paired with a captivating, choreography-driven music video directed by Phúóng Vū, with creative direction by Charlie Rees.

The video beautifully showcases Vietnam’s stunning landscapes, integrating holistic choreography with giant, abstract shapes that symbolize the earth and sky, inspired by traditional Vietnamese folklore.

Phúóng Vū elaborated, “In Vietnamese folklore, the sky is represented by a circle, and the earth by a square. We wanted the video to merge Vietnam’s breathtaking natural scenery with human movement, using surreal spheres and cubes to symbolize the balance between earth and sky.”

“Shallow Water” follows Elderbrook’s well-received return in April with “Glad I Found You,” a collaboration with renowned dance producer George FitzGerald.

Throughout his career, Elderbrook has garnered over two billion global streams and received acclaim for his albums, including 2020’s Why Do We Shake in the Cold? and 2023’s Little Love.

He has collaborated with notable artists such as Kx5 (Kaskade and deadmau5), Bob Moses, Black Coffee, and Rudimental. Elderbrook has also toured with acts like Jungle, Rüfüs Du Sol, and Odesza, delivering memorable performances at major events such as Coachella’s Sahara Stage.

Recently, Elderbrook headlined a sold-out show at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and is set to perform a major headline show at Brooklyn Mirage in New York on June 14th. His packed schedule includes appearances at HARD Summer in Los Angeles, Austin City Limits, and various North American dates.

Additionally, he has a series of shows lined up in Ibiza this summer and will be performing at festivals like Boardmasters in the UK, Tomorrowland, and Lollapalooza Berlin.

With “Shallow Water,” Elderbrook continues to solidify his status as a leading figure in the electronic music scene, adding another heartfelt and soul-stirring anthem to his impressive discography.
