Jaime Rivera: A Journey Through Music and Passion

Introducing Jaime Rivera

Hi, my name is Jaime Rivera. I am a singer and songwriter from the Bay Area. My journey into songwriting began in May 2023 out of sheer curiosity, and now, a year later, I’m preparing to release my debut single.

What I want people to know about me is my deep love for music. I write songs almost constantly, spanning genres from hyperpop to folkpop, alternative rock, R&B, and rap. I’m a package deal.

What Makes Me Unique

I approach my music with great intention. When releasing my catalog of music from the past year, I dedicate significant time and effort to album sequencing and ensuring everything flows seamlessly.

My work is like a story, often based on true experiences. As a highly creative person, I immerse myself fully in the specific genre or era of music I’m exploring.

Realizing My Purpose

Although I started songwriting in May, it felt like the genres were writing me, as if I were playing a character. It took going through various experiences to bring depth and soul into my music.

On December 17, 2023, I wrote a ballad for the first time, complete with a solid melody and form. Until then, my songwriting was stuck in a middle school diary and teenage angst phase.

That ballad made me feel genuinely good about music for the first time; it was therapeutic, revealing parts of myself I hadn’t known. That’s when I knew music was my life.

Overcoming Challenges

The biggest challenge I’ve faced is staying authentic in my music. Writer’s block and writing about topics I’m still grieving have been incredibly tough. Many writing sessions were filled with tears and frustration.

Some days, I’d write three songs in one day, and other times, I couldn’t write for weeks. Despite this, the reward comes when those thoughts and experiences flow together to create a beautiful melody.

Influential Figures

Three people I’d love to meet who could elevate my career are:

Lana Del Rey: She laid the foundation for my lyricism with her beautiful theatrical production.
Ethel Cain: She captures total devastation with haunting vocals and self-produces her work, which inspires me.
Gameboi: His unique style and well-thought-out production create immersive experiences. His cohesive album eras inspire my own creative process.

Meeting these talented artists would be a dream, as they’ve each played a significant role in shaping my musical journey.
