The Falcon Publicity team is thrilled to announce our new partnership with modern indie rock band Monotronic.
Founded by guitarist and producer Ramsey Elkholy, Monotronic features a rotating lineup of musicians who have collaborated with the likes of Daft Punk, Joe Jackson, and Robert Randolph. The band’s unique sound blends electronic and synth elements with pop and rock influences, all infused with Elkholy’s global inspirations.
Monotronic’s latest single, “Sun Song,” released on June 14, 2024, exemplifies their signature style, with its heartfelt storytelling and rich cultural influences. The track is set to appear on their upcoming album, Waiting For You, expected in early 2025, marking the band’s first new release in two years.
Elkholy explains that “Sun Song” explores the tension between where we are and where we think we should be, both physically and metaphorically. The song reflects on the protagonist’s life, initially painting a picture of an idyllic beach scene that ultimately reveals itself as an illusion of happiness. The protagonist is left alone, realizing that true fulfillment comes from shared experiences with others.
The song’s creation was both gradual and spontaneous, with the opening guitar riff evolving over several months before the lyrics came together one morning. Elkholy describes how the song “wrote itself” once the concept was clear, with the closing lyric “waiting for you” ultimately becoming the album’s title.
A dynamic and inquisitive artist, Elkholy, who also holds a doctorate in anthropology, draws heavily on his global travels and cultural experiences in his music. His extensive journeys through India and Southeast Asia, including two years living with the Orang Rimba tribe in Sumatra, Indonesia, have profoundly influenced his creative process.
Elkholy’s book, Being and Becoming: Embodiment and Experience among the Orang Rimba of Sumatra, reflects his deep engagement with these diverse cultures. The collective way of life he observed during his travels is mirrored in Monotronic, where every musician’s creativity contributes to a truly collective sound.
Monotronic’s new music, including more singles leading up to the full album release, will continue to showcase the band’s innovative approach to modern indie rock.
