From Self-Discovery to Sovereignty: Manvi Ranghar’s Journey to the Heart of Art and Life

Meet Manvi Ranghar, a Multi-Faceted Artist on a Journey to Understanding Humanity

Manvi, meaning to be humane and kind, is a woman on a mission. She is a human being, attempting to hold a paradox in the palm of her hand and make sense of the world through her own unique lens. Her goal is to align her philosophy, lifestyle and creativity, creating a triangle where all three intersect.

Starting at the age of 20, Manvi founded Kani, a cultural gathering and immersive art experience in Mumbai. This was just the beginning of her journey, leading her to work with the reforestation NGO and community living project Sadhana Forest in Pondicherry, India.

There, she lived off the grid, learned Vipassana meditation and honed her skills in unschooling and non-violent communication.

Manvi then worked as an academic editor, traveling to different countries and encountering people and other community living projects. This led her to Goa where she worked with the filmmaker Anand Gandhi at Memesys Culture Lab, co-designing a political board game and writing a science fiction TV show.

Currently, Manvi is in New York, where she received a scholarship to study method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. But her ambitions go beyond just acting and writing.

She sees life as a pilgrimage and her compass points towards exploring our inquiry and empathy through narrative and form.

Manvi’s journey to self-discovery is one of constant growth and evolution. When asked about the moment she realized she was doing what she was born to do, she paints a vivid picture of a meditative experience where a large worm swallowed her and she landed on the black granite floor of a cave.

This experience led her to understand that her fearlessness was her greatest strength and that art has been the constant joy and guide in her life.

In conclusion, Manvi Ranghar is a unique and sovereign individual who is not afraid to explore the fringes and seek out a deeper understanding of the world.

She is on a journey to design a radically new way of living, born of self-awareness and free thought, and through her work as an actor and writer, she hopes to delve into the politics of humanity.
