Select Live Dates in Atlanta, Charleston, and Savannah
“Fixation Fantasy is a seductive, introspective, and mesmerizing goth track. Spatial intricately wove social, political, and personal narratives within the instrumentals, adding depth and darkness that resonated with lost and misunderstood souls.” – Post-Punk
“Atlanta’s dark wave sorcerers conjured a fusion of bygone darkness and modern electronic shadows, helmed by the enigmatic Matt Spatial.” – Last Day Deaf

On September 13, 2024, Atlanta’s darkwave outfit Now After Nothing released their debut EP, Artificial Ambivalence. The EP was launched on their own label, Living On Neptune(s), and made available on all digital platforms and vinyl.
Frontman Matt Spatial expressed, “I was so proud to release Artificial Ambivalence after a long, bumpy road. While this EP was truly a labor of love, it was sometimes also a labor of pain, introspection, and unbridled soul-quenching.
What began as a desperate need to return to songwriting a few years ago culminated into this EP, summarizing just the first chapter for Now After Nothing.”
The EP had some additional help with mixing by Carl Glanville. “Though you may not know him by name, many have heard his work from his 15+ year stint as an engineer for U2. If you’ve ever heard their song ‘Vertigo,’ you’ve heard Carl at work.
Working with him was a dream come true, as he understood my vision from day one and took the recorded tracks far beyond my expectations.”
The EP was written and performed by Spatial alongside drummer Michael Allen and featured additional guitar work by Mark Gemini Thwaite, who had played with legends like Peter Murphy, The Mission, and Gary Numan.

Initially, Spatial intended for the project to be a solo album without a live band. He noted, “Musically, I had no preconceived notions of what the final results would be.
I put up no boundaries on adhering to a certain style or genre, nor was I concerned with over-reaching on the many layers present throughout.
Barriers be damned, we found a way to successfully portray the EP in a live setting and looked forward to more time on stage for all to experience.”
Now After Nothing also announced select live dates supporting the EP, starting with a hometown gig on September 14 at Center Stage in Atlanta. The band proudly supported Atlanta’s LifeLine Animal Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending shelter euthanasia.
They sold a “Meow After Nothing” cat design T-shirt at shows and online, with a portion of the proceeds going to the organization.
Live Dates:
- September 14 – Atlanta, GA – Vinyl/Center Stage with Glass Spells and DJ Goth Dad
- October 9 – Savannah, GA – Lodge of Sorrows with Al1ce and DJ Syntax Error
- October 19 – Charleston, SC – The Garden with Academy Order
Now After Nothing blended classic post-punk and goth influences with modern electronic soundscapes. Spatial drew from a deep well of alternative music sub-genres, citing influences such as Bauhaus, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, and Sonic Youth.
His intricate narratives wove through the music, adding depth and a dark resonance that connected with those feeling lost or misunderstood.
The band gained attention in Atlanta with their high-energy live shows, having shared the stage with Curse Mackey and darkwave stars Astari Nite.
