From the Forthcoming Double Album AM PM Soho Live, Out September 19 via Expression Records & BFD/The Orchard
(New York, NY) – Legendary Roxy Music members Phil Manzanera (guitar), Andy Mackay (saxophone), and Paul Thompson (drums) have released a powerful new live performance video/single for “No Church in the Wild.” [Watch here] and [stream/download here].
The track is taken from their upcoming live double-disc/double-vinyl set, AM PM Soho Live, arriving September 19th. The collection features highlights from Manzanera and Mackay’s collaborative album AM PM, selections from Manzanera’s solo catalog, and several Roxy Music classics.
Speaking on the performance, Phil Manzanera shared:
“The AM PM Soho gig was primarily improvised, ambient, and immersive. But we felt the last 20 minutes should rock out, so ‘No Church in the Wild’ was perfect. My 1977 riff, later sampled by Jay-Z and Kanye West, got the full AM PM treatment!”
That riff originated on Manzanera’s 1978 solo track K-Scope and resurfaced decades later in Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Grammy-winning “No Church in the Wild” from Watch the Throne. Manzanera revisited the song on his 2015 album The Sound of Blue—and now it finds new life in this dynamic live recording.

AM PM Soho Live was recorded over three sold-out shows at an intimate London screening theatre in March 2024. Mixed in Dolby Atmos, the album also features singer-songwriter Sonia Bernardo and violinist Anna Phoebe (ex-Roxy Music).
Formed in 1971, Roxy Music—Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay, Paul Thompson, Bryan Ferry, and Brian Eno—became icons of art rock, influencing generations of musicians. After their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2019 and their 50th anniversary tour in 2022, Manzanera and Mackay continue to evolve their sound with new projects.
Phil Manzanera, celebrated guitarist, producer, and author of the acclaimed memoir Revolución to Roxy, has worked with luminaries including David Gilmour, Steve Winwood, and Brian Eno, and produced seminal records across the UK and Latin America.
Andy Mackay, saxophonist, composer, and co-founder of Roxy Music, has also built a diverse solo career across rock, classical, and electronic projects. His works include Rock Follies (which topped UK charts), several solo albums, and his genre-blending project 3Psalms.
With AM PM Soho Live, Manzanera, Mackay, and Thompson revisit their roots while exploring fresh musical ground—delivering a live set that’s both a tribute to their legacy and a bold step forward.
