I Ya Toyah

New Album Drama Coming October 4th, Co-Produced by Walter Flakus of Stabbing Westward; Cold Waves Festival Date Announced

(New York, NY) – Industrial darkwave artist I Ya Toyah has unveiled the new video for her haunting single “Afterlight,” with an exclusive worldwide premiere through the Women’s International Music Network.

You can watch the ethereal and poignant video [here]. The release of “Afterlight” coincides with Suicide Prevention Month, an important cause deeply personal to I Ya Toyah.

In her own words, I Ya Toyah shares, “’Afterlight’ is about embracing the darker aspects of life. It tackles mental health struggles and is one of my most hopeful songs to date.

I wanted to release it during Suicide Prevention Month as a reminder to everyone that it’s okay not to be okay. We are not alone in this fight, no matter what our emotions might tell us.”

The video, directed by Alex Zarek, utilized advanced technology and holographic elements to capture the song’s deep, personal narrative. I Ya Toyah continues, “As a survivor of suicide loss, after my mother’s sudden passing, I grapple daily with darkness. The video reflects this battle between light and darkness. I hope it resonates with others who face similar struggles.”

Afterlight and the Upcoming Album Drama

“Afterlight” is a track from I Ya Toyah’s forthcoming full-length album Drama, set to release on October 4th.

The album is co-produced and mixed by Walter Flakus of Stabbing Westward, and includes a mix of new material as well as tracks from her EP I Am the Fire. The album is available for pre-order [here].

I Ya Toyah’s EP I Am the Fire, also co-produced by Flakus, garnered praise for its innovative sound, with Regen Magazine hailing her as a “one-woman musical army” waging a bold electro/industrial campaign.

Earlier this year, she toured extensively in support of Orgy and Cold, often joining Orgy on stage during their sets.

Her live performances have earned rave reviews, with ZRockr Magazine calling her shows “intriguing and hypnotic,” while Melodic Mag described her as a “captivating force.” I Ya Toyah has quickly become a rising star, and her performance skills and vocal range have solidified her as a must-see act.

I Ya Toyah’s Unique Path and Philosophy

More than just a stage name, “I Ya Toyah” translates from her native Polish as “It’s just me” and “I am who I am,” a simple yet powerful mantra that guides her artistic vision.

In just a few years, the Chicago-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist has released multiple records, created music videos, and toured extensively across the U.S. with acts like Stabbing Westward.

Her signature sound blends industrial, pop, electro, darkwave, and alternative rock into a unique soundscape that complements her deeply personal lyrics.

However, it’s her vocal power and versatility that set her apart, delivering relatable and modern messages that reflect the complexities of today’s world.

Embracing Collaboration and Mental Health Advocacy

While her DIY spirit fuels her work, I Ya Toyah has also collaborated with notable figures in the industrial and darkwave scenes, including Raymond Watts (PIG, KMFDM), Julian Beeston (Nitzer Ebb), Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly), and Tim Skold (Marilyn Manson, KMFDM). Her track “Pray,” remixed by Stabbing Westward, topped the Industrial Electronic charts on Bandcamp.

I Ya Toyah is a passionate advocate for mental health, as well as human and animal rights. In addition to raising awareness, she has donated 15% of her music and merchandise sales to causes such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation.

She also contributed to a fundraising version of The Beatles’ “Come Together” to support Ukraine, collaborating with members of Faith No More, Stabbing Westward, Ministry, and others, with production led by John Fryer (Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode).
